The New Collective

The New Collective is re-launching in Spring of 2024 at the R. Neumann and Company leather goods factory in Hoboken New Jersey. We are accepting new members now for April and May of 2024.

This program utilizes the spaces and equipment housed within Project Studios, including the ceramics, photography, printmaking, and wood studios.

Ceramics at Project Studios

The New Collective is a fee-based monthly membership program with a cost of $250.00 per month. Memberships will begin October 1 and there is limited availability.

Lockers at Project Studios

Members don’t have their own personal studio but may work in any of the shared studio hubs at Project Studios, including a dedicated general work area with tables in the Second Floor Studio Suite near the Wood Shop and Spray Booth. In many ways, members will help to shape the way the studio functions.

Each member will be asked to choose an area of concentration which will place them within the physical studios. At this time the concentrations are ceramics, sculpture, photography, painting, and printmaking. At this time, metal sculpture is not offered as a concentration. The Warm Glass studio may be a concentration with approval.

For example, an artist with a concentration in ceramics would have a personal shelf in the Clay Studio with all the Clay Studio members’ privileges, however they also are permitted to use any other shared studio at no additional charge.

In general, the studios can be accessed at any time, however there may be restrictions on the use of some power tools, and some spaces and equipment require reservations in advance. Members may use an available locker for tools and valuables as well as storage shelving located in each studio area.

Membership will grant 24/7 access to members to:

The Clay Studio
Warm Glass (per approval)
Second Floor Shared Studio
Photography Studio
Fourth Floor Gallery Wall
Second Floor Wood Shop
Second Floor Walk-in Spray Booth
Third Floor Mini Print Lab

Members must sign a membership agreement before gaining access to the studio environment. Commitment is month-to-month with no long-term contract. Some studio suites use a smart-app for access, so a compatible mobile device may be required. A creative portfolio or documentation of artistic motivation must be provided before membership is granted.
