The New Collective is a fee-based, monthly, 24-hour all-access membership program, available at both Project Studios locations: the R. Neumann and Company leather goods factory in Hoboken, New Jersey, and our Jersey City location at 98 Forrest St. in Bergen-Lafayette.
Membership is $250.00 per month at either location, month-to-month with no long-term contract.
The New Collective is the low-cost way to get involved in the Project Studios artistic community, with not only a place to create, but also opportunities to participate in open house events, Raku firings, and city-wide studio tours in both Hoboken and Jersey City. Members work within a co-located art center concept with nearly 200 other artists working in our Clay Studio, private and semi-private studios, and Pro Clay Studio.
This membership program utilizes the spaces and equipment housed within Project Studios, including the ceramics, photography, printmaking, and wood studios. Metal fabrication and glass fusing are also available.
Members don’t have their own personal studio but may work in any of the shared studio hubs at Project Studios in Hoboken or Jersey City.
One of the main differences between Project Studios and other art workspaces is our focus on equipment. Our ceramics, metal fabrication, and glass studios rival what can be found at a university. We are also all artists ourselves, exhibiting work and performing in New York City, curating exhibitions, and working in our spaces along side members.
In many ways, members help to shape the way the studio functions.
Hoboken
Membership includes a large 3 ft. x 4 ft. storage cage, along with additional storage areas for materials and standard lockers for valuables such as photography equipment.
Members have access to shared studio hubs throughout the building, including a dedicated general work area with tables and easels in the Second Floor Studio Suite near the Wood Shop and Spray Booth. In many ways, members help shape how the studio functions day to day.

Jersey City
Membership includes one large Uline storage locker and one gym locker for smaller items such as glass tools or cameras.
The Jersey City studio is embedded in our third floor facility at 98 Forrest St. in Bergen-Lafayette, sometimes called the Liberty Arts District. The space includes an air-conditioned common work area, worktables and easels, a kitchenette, and an art book library. Members may also work outdoors in the courtyard for painting or sculpture. Freight elevator use requires assistance from Project Studios staff. Dedicated on-site parking is available, along with free street parking.
24/7 access includes:

Available a-la-carte:
- Metal Fabrication Studio case-by-case access, with required training; use is limited to monitored hours. An additional fee applies.
- Warm Glass Studio members must complete a basic class before adding glass access to their membership. No additional membership fee; a firing fee may apply. Bullseye glass only. Firing is done with assistance from Project Studios staff. Materials are not included in membership but may be purchased directly from Project Studios, which maintains a large inventory of glass sheet, frit, and stringers.
Access Between Locations
New Collective members are welcome to request access to spaces at each location as needed. Cross-location access is handled on a per-request basis. Members may park at either location for free with a Project Studios parking pass.
In general, the studios can be accessed at any time, however there may be restrictions on the use of some power tools, and some spaces and equipment require reservations in advance. Members may use their personal locker for tools, valuables, and artwork, as well as storage shelving located in each studio area.
Members must sign a membership agreement before gaining access to the studio environment. Commitment is month-to-month with no long-term contract. Some studio suites use a smart-app for access, so a compatible mobile device may be required. A creative portfolio or documentation of artistic motivation must be provided before membership is granted.
Some studios require special skills or training and access will be determined by portfolio review as well as training on some of the more advanced equipment.
